AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State fell only by a few points in its first competition to Paine College Friday afternoon at Lucy Laney Stadium.
ASU fell 54-48 overall in 11 events to the Lions. The Lady Jaguars were not represented in the women's high jump, long jump, triple jump, or 400 meter dash.
Here's an event-by-event breakdown of the Jaguars top performers during the weekend:
Women Discus Throw
Brittany Henthorne and Nwanneka Nnaka ran uncontested in the discus. Henthorne threw for 33.46m (109-09), while Nnaka recorded 26.05m (85-05).
Women Shot Put
Nnaka and Henthorne took first and second out of five competitors. Nanaka posted a score of 9.80m (32-02.0) and Henthorne reached 9.50m (31-02.0).
Women 100 Meter Dash
Amanda Orr took first overall in 13.03, while Jasmine Griffin (13.84), Marissa Craft (13.88), and Janikqui Gaines (21.23) took third, fourth, and fifth out of six.
Women 1500 Meter Run
Freshman Jordan Humphrey, also a women's cross country runner, crossed first overall in 5:22.37, while her xc teammate Tessa Patterson took third in 5:54.15. Vera Nisa (6:42.84) finished fifth and Brennan Meagher (8:34.14) took sixth.
Women 800 Meter Run
ASU's Stephanie Cippollone (women's cross country) (2:42.78) took second, Ashley Smith (2:44.02) third, and Ericka Sharpe (2:50.56) fourth.
Women 200 Meter Dash
Amanda Orr finished first overall in 27.28, while Jasmine Griffin (28.58), Janikqui Gaines (28.58) and Marissa Craft (29.93) took third, fourth, and fifth.
Women 4x400 Meter Relay
The Jags' 'A' team second in 4:30.34 behind Paine's 'A' squad and in front of their 'B'.
