Augusta Tennis Releases 2019-20 Women’s Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head tennis coach, Michael Mcgrath, unveiled the 2019-20 women's tennis schedule on Tuesday morning.

Beginning his 22nd season at the helm of the women's and men's tennis programs, McGrath booked three tournaments for the fall 2019 portion of the new slate. Augusta hosts the annual Border Battle, Sept. 13-15, at Newman Tennis Center – home of the Jaguars. AU heads to the Francis Marion Invitational in Florence, S.C., Sept. 21-22, before wrapping the fall at the ITA Regional in Sumter, S.C. Sept. 27-30.

 

The new season officially begins at the 2020 City of Florence College Tennis Invitational, hosted by Francis Marion, Feb. 7-8, at Palmetto Tennis Center in Florence, S.C. The Jaguars compete in their first single match of the season on Feb. 11 at Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. AU stays in South Carolina for another non-conferee road match against Barton College Feb. 15 in Sumter, S.C.

 

Augusta plays at home for the first time of the 2020 season on Feb. 18 when they welcome Anderson University at Newman Tennis Center. After three away matches at Johnson C. Smith (Feb. 19), Coker (Feb. 21), and Belmont Abbey (Feb. 26), the Jaguars return home to host Erskine (Feb. 28) and Lincoln Memorial (March 1) to kick off the month of the March.

 

Peach Belt Conference play commences on March 4 with a visit to Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Ga. Augusta enjoys a three-match, non-conference home stand when Emmanuel (March 6), Clark Atlanta (March 7), and North Georgia (March 9) all visit Newman Tennis Center. AU plays at Lenoir Rhyne in Hickory, N.C. for a non-conference match on March 13, before wrapping the rest of the regular-season with Peach Belt Conference matches.

 

The Jags travel to Greenwood, S.C. to battle Lander on March 17 and make their final appearances at home with matches against Young Harris on March 22 and Georgia College on March 25. Road trips to Francis Marion (March 28) and Columbus State (March 31) conclude the regular season.

 

The PBC Tournament takes place April 23-26 at Francis Marion in Florence, S.C.
