AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team won 6-1 over Georgia Southwestern on Sunday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference match at Newman Tennis Center.
The match moved Augusta to 11-7 overall and 3-6 in the PBC, while GSW moved to 6-9 overall and 0-5 in the league.
After the Canes carded two of three wins in doubles competition, the Jaguars won all six singles matches to win big in their final home match of the year. AU duo Alejandra Arranz and Maria Alice Viera won 7-6 at number three doubles, before AU went 6-0 in singles.
Eva Miralles-Miro pulled out a three-set win at number one singles and Merye Gobernate won 6-2, 6-1 in the second singles slot. Arranz, Marie Cantenot, Viera, and Flaminia Valci all won in two sets for the Jaguars.
