Women’s Tennis Returns To PBC Championships April 19

FLORENCE, S.C. - The Augusta University women's tennis team earned the seventh seed in the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Tournament and will meet second-seeded Flagler in the quarterfinal match on Friday, April 19 at 12:00 p.m. The event is being hosted by Francis Marion University at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center in Florence, S.C., for the seventh straight season.

 

 

This is the 25th appearance for the Jaguars in the Peach Belt tournament. AU will meet Flagler for the second time this season, after falling to the Saints in the regular season. Augusta went 11-7 on the season and posted a 3-6 record in Peach Belt Conference play. AU has won six of their last eight heading into the PBC finals.

 

Columbus State is the top seed and is a three-time defending champion in the tourney. Flagler is second, North Georgia third, USC Aiken fourth, Georgia College fifth, Francis Marion sixth, Augusta seventh, and Lander eighth.

 

Five PBC teams are currently ranked in the top 50 in the nation including No. 6 Columbus State, No. 11 North Georgia, No. 18 Flagler, No. 36 USC Aiken, and No. 39 Georgia College.
