SUMTER, S.C. – The Augusta University men's and women's tennis teams have individuals competing at the 2018 ITA Southeast Regional Small College/Oracle Championships in Sumter S.C.
The men sent seniors Joao Ferreira and Patrick Oliveira, junior Gaspard Mathieu and sophomore Martin Hurtado to Palmetto Tennis Center. During day one play on Thursday, Ferreira won 7-5, 6-3 over Tusculum's Marco Meon, Mathieu prevailed past Lenoir-Rhyne's Tales Miranda 6-4, 6-0, and Hurtado shined 6-4, 6-2 over Francis Marion's William Anth Forsbert. Oliveira is seeded No. 9 and got a round-one bye.
The Augusta women's squad is represented by Alejandra Gonzalez and Merye Gobernate at the fall finals.
