AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis squad won a 6-3 non-conference match against Alabama-Huntsville on Wednesday afternoon at Newman Tennis Center.
The non-conference meeting moved AU to 9-8, while the UAH Chargers are now 6-8 on the year.
Augusta dropped the first two singles matches, but won the next four. Alejandra Gonzalez Arranz won in three sets at No. 3 singles and Marie Cantenot and Amelia Pinoargote took care of No. 4 and No. 5 singles in two sets. Maria Alice Vieira took a win by default at No 6. Singles when the Chargers did not have a player to fill the slot.
The Jaguars won two of three matches in doubles play to seal the victory. AU is set to host the North Georgia Nighthawks on Friday, March 30 for a 1:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match at Newman Tennis Center.
