AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team hosted the Montevallo Falcons for a Peach Belt Conference single match on Saturday and dropped a 6-3 contest at Newman Tennis Center.
The Jaguars (5-9, 0-7 PBC) were defeated in the first two singles matches, but Alejandra Gonzalez Arranz came back to a win a three-set rally at No. 3 singles over Julia Berg. Eva Miralles-Miro turned in the other Augusta victory in singles competition – winning 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot.
Amelia Pinoargote and Monica Gonzalez turned in an 8-5 No. 2 doubles win over Allie Whitley and Emily Beatty. The Falcons fought off the Jags in the other two doubles to survive the match 6-3.
The Jaguars host rival USC Aiken on Tuesday, March 21 for a 1:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match at Newman Tennis Center.
