AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis squad hosted the Georgia College Bobcats on Tuesday afternoon at Newman Tennis Center and fell 7-2 in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Bobcats are ranked No. 31 in the nation and move to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the Peach Belt, while the Augusta Jaguars are now 6-11 overall and 1-9 in the league.
GC led 2-0 after the opening doubles matches, but Alejandra Gonzalez Arranz and Eva Miralles-Miro won a hard-fought 9-7 match at No. 3 doubles. In singles play, the Bobcats were controlled the momentum, but AU did steal a win.
Alejandra Gonzalez Arranz took care of Jena Kelly at No. 2 singles to win by retirement and give Augusta the lone singles victory.
Augusta plays at North Georgia on Wednesday, March 29 for a 12:00 p.m. match.
