Women’s Tennis To Celebrate 25th Anniversary Of First PBC Championship During Homecoming Weekend

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University athletic department will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1992 women's tennis Peach Belt Conference Championship during the 2017 AU Homecoming Week February 13-18.

 

The 1992 women's basketball team also won a 92' PBC Championship and will be honored as well. The 92' women's tennis and basketball teams were the first teams to bring a PBC Championship to Augusta.

 

The festivities kickoff on Friday, Feb 17 with a welcome home celebration with Athletic Director Clint Bryant, followed by a breakfast and tour of campus on Saturday, Feb. 18.

 

The women's basketball and tennis teams will be honored at the 2017 AU Homecoming basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 18 during halftime of the women's game. Jaguar Hoops hosts Lander University for a 1:30 p.m. women's game, followed by the men at 3:30 p.m.

 

The 92' Jaguars went 17-5 on the tennis court that season to bring the first and only women's tennis PBC title to Augusta.
