AUGUSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta women's tennis team notched their sixth consecutive win in a 9-0 shutout victory over non-conference Concord (West, Va.) on Tuesday at Newman Tennis Center.
The Jaguars moved to 12-2 with the win and wear near flawless on the entire day. In the number singles match, GRU's Monica Gonzalez won a 6-0, 6-1. That one-set loss was the only defeat for GRU Augusta on the rest of the day.
Aida Castany, Maria Cecilia Pimentel and Maria Nadal all won 6-0, 6-0. Marie Vin and Amelia Pinoargote took the final singles to give GRU the sweep.
In doubles, play, Gonzalez and Pinoargote combined for an 8-0 win in number one singles and Castany and Nadal did the same in the second doubles slot. GRU got a win in the third doubles match with Concord forfeiting with no player.
The Jaguars play at USC Aiken for a Peach Belt Conference match on Saturday, March 21 at 12:00 p.m. in Aiken, S.C.
