Seventh Place Finish for Augusta at Illini Invitational

Medinah, Ill. – The Augusta University Women's Golf team earned a seventh place finish today after the final round of the Illini Invitational. The Jaguars shot 868, or +4 over par, as a team on the par 72 course. Kent State was the champion of the event, finishing with a score of 853 (-11 under par). Ole miss jumped up six places in the final standings, thanks in part to a -13 under par third round, to secure second place with an overall score of 854, one stroke off of the lead. Host Illinois claimed third in the field of 15 at -4 under par to round out the leaders.

Linda Lundqvist led the Jag golfers with a score of 213 through her three rounds of play. At -3 under par, Lundqvist just missed out on a top 10 finish for individual play as she ended up in a tie for 11th. Despite this she turned in an impressive performance, shooting a 69 in the third round, the only Jag to shoot a round under 70 for the entire event. Teresa Diez-Moliner had a quality outing as well, shooting a 216 to break even for the tournament. Her final round score of 72 (par) helped her earn a spot in the top 2 at 20th. Maria Villanueva-Aperribay was arguably one of the most consistent players on the course, shooting a 73 in the first, 72 in the second, and another 73 in the third to finish +2 over par and also land in the top 25 at 24th. Charlotte Alran also finished with consistent scores throughout the tournament, though she would finish with an overall score of 221 (+5 over par). Despite this, she still finished in a tie for 38th overall. Nababhach Boon-In earned the same score in every round, shooting three 76's for a total of 228 and finishing in 64th overall.

The Jaguars have some time to rest as their next tournament isn't until next month, Nov. 1-3, when they cross the border into San Jose del Cabo, Mexico for the Battle at the Beach (hosted by TCU).
