Jags Tie for 14th in Final Day of Windy City Collegiate Champ.

Golf Ill. – The Augusta University Women's Golf team finished in a tie with Michigan for 14th place at the Windy City Collegiate Championship. After two days and three rounds of competition the Jaguars finished with a total score of 896, good for +32 over par. South Carolina was the winner of the tournament, finishing with at -14 under par with a total score of 850. Southern California ended in second place at -11 under par, while Florida overtook Arizona State at the last minute by one stroke to snag third with a score of -6 under par.

 

Maria Villanueva-Apperibay was the top finisher for Augusta, finishing the contest in 49th place with an overall score of 223 (+7 over par) through all three rounds. She continued off her strong second round with a quality third, only shooting +1 over par with a 73. Teresa Diez-Moliner ended in 55th place with a score of 225, going +9 over par and shooting a 75 today. Charlotte Alran had the best round of the tournament for Augusta, breaking even with a 72 in the final round to let her finish tied with teammate Linda Lunqvist at 57th with a score of 226. Napabhach Boon-In finished the tournament in 68th place with her score of 229.

 

The team returns to Illinois in a week's time on Monday, Oct. 7, for the Illini Women's Invitational (hosted by Illinois). The event will be held at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill.
