EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Augusta University women's golf team climbed the leaderboard to 10th place on Tuesday after round two at the NCAA East Lansing Regional. The Jaguars are seven shots outside of the top-six advancing spots to the NCAA Championships with one round to compete.
Round two of the tournament was postponed until 2:45 p.m. due to a rain delay and the format was readjusted to a shotgun start on the par-72, 6,387-yard course. Ranked No. 45 in the nation, Augusta dropped five strokes from its team score in round two with a 297 (+9).
No. 12 Kent State holds a one-shot lead over No. 5 Arizona for the first place spot at 3-under-par. Arizona is in second (-2), No. 14 UCLA third (+5), No. 4 Stanford fourth (+12), and Indiana and No. 28 Illinois share a tie for fifth (+16). The top six teams advance to the NCAA Championships.
Jags junior Linda Lundqvist shot AU's lowest round of the event so far with an even-par 72 and is tied for 19th (+3). Senior Cecilia Diez-Moliner is four shots over par and tied for 29th with a round-two 75, while junior Charlotte Alran and sophomore Teresa Diez-Moliner are both tied for 46th (+8), after each shooting 77 and 75. Senior Maggie Ashmore dropped two strokes from her score and sits 82nd.
Augusta and the 18-team field compete in the final round of the regional on Wednesday, May 8.
