Augusta Wins Stroke Play, Finishes Runner-Up In Match Play At Liz Murphey

ATHENS, Ga. – The Augusta University women's golf team finished runner-up at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Saturday afternoon, after falling to No. 12 South Carolina, 3-2, in the championship match at UGA Golf Course. Augusta won the stroke play portion at 2-over-par on Thursday and blew by No.7 Florida and No. 5 Arkansas in the match play quarterfinal and semifinal.

 

 

After leading stroke play on Thursday to enter match play in first place, the No. 54 nationally-ranked Jaguars rolled past No. 7 Florida and No. 5 Arkansas by a score of 4-1. Augusta squared off against No. 12 South Carolina in the match play championships on Saturday and dropped a close 3-2 match to finish second overall.
