Maggie Ashmore Named WGCA All-American Scholar

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced on July 3 with a total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. Augusta University junior Maggie Ashmore represented the Jaguars on the 2017-18 list.

 

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

 

As a junior in 2017-18, Ashmore played in all 10 tournaments and logged action in 28 rounds for Augusta. She had a scoring average of 75.17, while recording 72 birdies and hitting 69 percent of her fairways. Ashmore had five top-20 finishes on the season and led the Jaguars in two events. Her best finish was fourth overall at the Moon Golf Invitational on Feb. 20. She shot in the 60s twice and shot her low round of 68 at the Moon Golf Invitational and the 3M Augusta Invitational March 18.

 

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
