Augusta Five Shots Off The Lead At Henssler Financial Intercollegiate

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Augusta University women's golf team played two rounds to open the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate on Monday at Pine Tree Country Club and the Jaguars are five shots off the lead. Augusta is 17-over-par in third place and trails No. 19 Kent State with one round to play.

 

 

Making their third consecutive trip to Kennesaw State's home event, the Jaguars shot 293 (+5) in round one to hold a two-shot lead over the entire 11-team field. In round two, the Jags posted a 300 (+12) and slid to third. No. 19 Kent State leads (-11) and Ole Miss sits second at 16-over-par.

 

Sophomore Linda Lundqvist posted AU's low score of the day with a 71 (1) in the first round and shot a 76 (+4) in the second. Freshman Teresa Diez-Moliner and Lundqvist are tied for sixth overall at 3-over-par.

 

Jags juniors Maggie Ashmore and Cecilia Diez-Moliner came in next for AU in tie for 13th and a tie for 17th, while sophomore Charlotte Alran is tied for 39th.

 

The 11-team field includes host Kennesaw State, Kent State, Delaware, Virginia Tech, Troy, Ole Miss, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Southern, Augusta, UNCG and Coastal Carolina.

 

Round three ends the event on Tuesday, March 27 with another shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
