AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's golf team shot 2-over-par 290 to match No. 21 Purdue for the lowest score of the day in round two of the 3M Augusta Invitational on Saturday. Augusta climbed the leaderboard two spots and sits in third place out of 15 teams at Forest Hills Golf Club.
After a 30 minute rain delay, day two of the 3MAI got underway with wet and windy conditions on the par-72, 6,228-yard course.
Georgia held a 12-shot leave over the 15-team field to begin day two and they remained the leader at 3-under-par. Purdue is in second place at 8-over-par and the Jaguars sit two strokes back in the third place. The tournament concludes on Sunday, March 18 with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start at Forest Hills Golf Club.
AU was tied for fifth at 8-over-par to begin day two and climbed two spots. Sophomore Linda Lundqvist remained in the top 10 and is in a tie for seventh after posting the teams lowest round of the tournament so far with a 71 (-1). Sophomore Charlotte Alran dropped two strokes and is in 14th (+2) and junior Cecilia Diez-Moliner improved by three shots and is tied for 17th (+3).
Junior Maggie Ashmore is lurking outside the top 20 and shot her second straight 75 (+3) to sit tied for 26th (+6), and freshman Teresa Diez-Moliner shaved three strokes to round out Augusta in a tie for 62nd.
Augusta's individual competitors, Nicole Page and Sarah Tychsen, share a tie for 44th (+10).
