Jags Tied For Fifth After First Day Of 3M Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's golf team is tied for fifth place with Memphis after the first day of the 3M Augusta Invitational on Friday at Forest Hills Golf Club. Augusta shot eight-over par, 296, through 18 holes of play and are three shots out of second place.

 

 

The 2018 3MAI is the 13th edition of Augusta's home event and features 15 division-I teams from around the nation.

 

AU started juniors Maggie Ashmore, Cecilia Diez-Moliner, sophomores Charlotte Alran, Linda Lundqvist, and freshman Teresa Diez-Moliner, while freshmen Nicole Page and junior Sarah Tychsen competed as individuals.

 

Lundqvist had five birdies and finished with an even-par 72 to lead AU in a tie for 11th. Alran shot 74 (+2) and is tied for 21st, while Ashmore and C. Diez-Moliner share a tie for 29th at 3-over-par. T. Diez-Moliner is in 64th after shooting 80 (+8).

 

Georgia leads the tournament at 7-under par, with 36 holes to play.

 

The squad returns to action for round two on Saturday, March 17 with tee times going off holes one and 10 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
