Jags Host 13th Annual 3M Augusta Invitational March 16-18

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's golf team hosts the 13th annual 3M Augusta Invitational March 16-18 at Forest Hills Golf Club. The Jaguars' home tournament features 15 teams who will compete for the three-day event in Augusta, Ga.

 

 

Round one begins on Friday, March 16 with tee times going off holes one and 10 from 9:30 – 11:50 a.m. on the par-72, 6,248-yard course. Round two on Saturday, March 17 is the same format as the first round and round three on Sunday will be a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place following the conclusion of the final round.

 

This year's field includes Augusta, Central Arkansas, Columbia, Daytona State, Eastern Michigan, ETSU, Georgia, JMU, Memphis, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, Purdue, Southern Mississippi, Troy, and Virginia Tech.

 

Augusta finished third last year at their home event, led by Jessica Haigwood who finished 12-under-par to set the new tournament record and win the individual title. AU won the team title in 2016 for their second time, after winning in the 2005-06 season.

 

Last year, Purdue won the event for the third time in seven years.

 

The Jaguars have taken home individual medalist honors four times at their tourney. Haigwood in 2017, Casey Kennedy in 2011, Amanda Smith in 2006, and Lauren Smith in 2005. The Jaguars finished runner-up in 2006-07, 2007-08, 2009-10, 2010-11, and 2011-12. The tournament dates were moved from the fall to the spring for the 2009-10 season, where it has remained to this day.
