Jags Open Lady Puerto Rico Classic In Eighth

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico. – The Augusta University women's golf team began its 2018 campaign on Sunday at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and are in eighth place after round one at Rio Mar Country Club.

 

 

Augusta made its fifth consecutive trip to Puerto Rico for the three-day tournament hosted by Purdue on the par-71, 5,981-yard course. The 11-team field features four teams ranked in the top 25 and seven in the top 50. No. 4 Arkansas leads the event by eight shots. No. 22 Kent State is in second, No. 26 Iowa State is third, TCU is fourth, and No. 43 N.C. State rounds out the top five.

 

The Jags sent six in senior Maggie Ashmore, junior Cecilia Diez-Moliner, sophomores Linda Lundqvist, Charlotte Alran, and freshmen Teresa Diez-Moliner and Nicole Page. The top four scores of the group count towards the team total.

 

Augusta is 21-over par and six shots outside of the top five. Lundqvist, C. Diez-Moliner, and Page are all tied for 22nd after shooting 5-over 76. T. Diez-Moliner shot six shots over par and is in in 32nd, while Ashmore is 56th (+10), and Alran 59th (+11).
