JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Augusta University women's golf team teed off at the Ladies Fall Intercollegiate on Friday at Atlanta Athletic Club and are in 10th place at 37-over par.
Hosted by Louisville on the par-72, 6,210-yard AAC Highlands Course, the LFI features 13 teams from all over the nation, with four ranked in the top 50. Georgia leads the tournament after round one at 11-over par. No. 33 Louisville's B team is in second (+13), Louisville's starters are third (+14), No. 15 Illinois fourth (+18), and Indiana fifth (+19) for the top scoring teams. `
The event is one of two Louisville-hosted tournaments that the Jaguars will compete in this year. The team travels to the Moon Golf Invitational Feb. 19-20 in Melbourne, Fla. AU sent Cecilia-Diez Moliner, Maggie Ashmore, Linda Lundqvist, Teresa Diez-Moliner, and Charlotte Alran to Atlanta this weekend. The team shot 325 and sit 10th overall.
Junior Cecilia Diez-Moliner and sophomore Charlotte Alran each shot 79 (+7) for AU and share a tie for 28th. Sophomore Linda Lundqvist carded an 82 (+2) for a tie for 48th, while freshman Teresa Diez-Moliner is tied for 56th (+13) and senior Maggie Ashmore tied for 67th (+16).
Round two gets underway on Saturday, Oct. 28 with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. off Nos. one and 10.
