Augusta Tied For Eighth After 36 Holes In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico. – The Augusta University women's golf team is through two rounds at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and are tied for eighth place with No. 38 East Carolina after round two on Monday at Rio Mar Country Club.

 

 

Returning to the tournament for the fifth straight year, Augusta shot 24-over par and is 45-over through 36 holes on the par-71, 5,981-yard course. No. 4 Arkansas continues to lead the field 18-over par, while No. 26 Iowa State climbed to second (+23). No. 22 Kent State is third (+26), N.C. State is fourth (+32), and TCU fifth (+35) for the top teams out of 11.

 

Sisters Teresa Diez-Moliner and Cecilia Diez-Moliner are pacing the Jaguars and sit inside the top 25 on the leaderboard. Freshman T. Diez-Moliner leads the team and is tied for 16th (+9), with a round-two 74 (+3). C. Diez-Moliner is tied for 21st (+10) after posting a 76 (+5) on Monday.

 

Sophomore Linda Lundqvist sits tied for 43rd, senior Maggie Ashmore is 49th, and rookie Nicole Page and sophomore Charlotte Alran share a tie for 57th.

 

The 11-team field ends the tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 13 with round three.
