Ashmore Leads Augusta Through Two Rounds At Magnolia Invitational

WEST POINT, Miss. – The Augusta University women's golf team completed two rounds of play in the Magnolia Invitational at Old Waverly Golf Club and are in ninth place after shaving 11 strokes from their team score. The Jaguars are 27-over par with the final round to play on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Hosted by Mississippi State and Ole Miss, the Magnolia Invitational started Sunday morning on the par-72, 6,320-yard course and continued on Monday with round two. Ole Miss leads the event 9-under and is the only team out of 15 squads to sit below par.

 

Augusta senior Maggie Ashmore carded a 75 (+3) on Sunday and matched the team's low score of the tournament with an even-par 72 in the second round. Ashmore is tied for 16^th and was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 485-yard ninth hole

 

Sophomore Linda Lundqvist put up a 75 (+3) and 76 (+4) and is in a tie for 32^nd at 7-over par, while freshman Teresa Diez-Moliner is 8-over in 39^th place. Junior Cecilia Diez-Moliner recovered from a round-one 81 and shot even par in the second round to get to 9-over par for the event.

 

Freshman Nicole Page is competing in her first college tournament and she dropped 10 strokes from her round-one score with a 79 on Monday. The tournament ends on Tuesday, Oct. 3 with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start at Old Waverly.
