Jaguars Open Play In 3M Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's golf team opened play in the 12th-annual 3M Augusta Invitational on Friday at Forest Hill Golf Club and the Jaguars sit 10th of 14 teams through round one of play. Senior Jessica Haigwood is tied for fourth overall in the field of 78.

 

 

Hosting their 12th event all time and ranked No. 45 in the nation, the Jaguars welcomed 14 Division-I teams for the three-day event on the par-72, 6,248-yard course. Augusta shot 307 (+19).

 

Daytona State College shot one-under par (287) to overtake No. 23 Purdue and No. 33 Tennessee for the day-one lead. Purdue and Tennessee sit even par tied for second place, Memphis is fourth, and Kennesaw State fifth for the top five teams through 18 holes.

 

Haigwood paced Augusta with a 71 (-1) and is tied for fourth overall, while seniors Eunice Yi and Josefine Nyqvist each shot 78 (+6) for 51st. Sophomore Cecilia Diez-Moliner shot 80 (+8) and freshman Linda Lundqvist an 82 (+10).

 

Sophomores Maggie Ashmore and Lexi Bollant and freshman Charlotte Alran competed as individuals. Ashmore carded the low round of her career with a 75 and Alran did the same as the two are tied for 28th. Bollant booked an 84 (+12).

 

Round two of the 3MAI takes place on Saturday, March 18 with tee times going off one and 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

 

PARTICIPATING TEAMS (14) Augusta, Coastal Carolina, Columbia, Daytona State, Eastern Michigan, East Tennessee State, James Madison, Kennesaw, Memphis, Ole Miss, Purdue Tennessee, Troy, and Virginia Tech.
