Augusta Lady Jags Tee Off In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The Augusta University women's golf team opened its spring season on Sunday at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic for the fourth consecutive year. After round one, the Jaguars are tied for 11th at 17-over par on Rio Mar Country Club River Course in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

 

 

Hosted by Purdue, the Lady Puerto Rico Classic features Arkansas, Arkansas, Baylor, Furman, Georgia, Iowa State, Kent State, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, NC State, Purdue, TCU, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt.

 

Furman (+2) leads the 15-team field and Texas Tech (+4) is second, Kent State (+5) third, TCU and Georgia are fourth (+6), and Michigan and Baylor (+10) even in sixth for the top scoring teams.

 

Augusta shot a 305 (+17) as a team and sits tied with Iowa State in 11th place. Seniors Eunice Yi and Jessica Haigwood and freshman Linda Lundqvist all shot 76 (+4) and are tied for 35th. Freshman Charlotte Alran made her collegiate debut and shot five-over 77 and senior Josefine Nyqvist fire 79 (+7).

 

The event continues with a shotgun start on Monday, Feb. 13 and features the same format on Tuesday to wrap the contest with a 7:30 a.m. start.
