Augusta Tied For Sixth With Campbell To Open Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Augusta University women's golf team began their final event of the fall season on Sunday at the Palmetto Intercollegiate and the Jaguars are tied for sixth after 18 holes at Turtle Point Golf Club.

Hosted by the College of Charleston, the Palmetto Intercollegiate is being played for the third time in the history of the tournament at Kiawah Island Resort's Turtle Point course. After round one on the par-72, 5,972-yard course, Mississippi leads the 20-team field at two-over par.

Chattanooga and Coastal Caroline each have a hold of second place at four-over par, Kennesaw State and College of Charleston are tied for fourth, and Augusta and Campbell are tied for sixth.

Augusta shot 300 (+12). Jaguar senior Jessica Haigwood eagled the par-five 13th hole and led the team with a 74 (+2). Haigwood is tied for 18th after round one and senior Eunice Yi and freshman Linda Lundqvist each shot 75 (+3) to share a tie for 25th.

Sophomore Cecilia Diez-Moliner shot 76 (+4) and is tied for 34th and senior Josefine Nyqvist sits in a tie for 78th.

The Jaguars have finished top five in all four events this season and are ranked No. 34 in the nation.
