Women’s Golf Reveals 2016-17 Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University women's golf head coach Caroline Heggannounced on Wednesday morning the Jaguars' 2016-17 schedule, which is highlighted by the program's annual 3M Augusta Invitational in March and a total of 10 regular-season tournaments.

The Augusta Jags' slate consists of five fall events and five spring events. Hegg's second year at the helm of the team begins at the Louisville Fall Kickoff Sept. 6, a one day 36-hole format at Berkeley Hills Country Club in Norcross, Ga.

The 2016-17 Jaguars feature senior trio Jessica Haigwood, Josefine Nyqvist, and Eunice Yi. Also returning is junior Lexi Bollant, sophomores Maggie Ashmore and Cecilia Moliner, and new freshmen Charlotte Alran and Linda Lundqvist.

"This year's schedule is probably the most competitive in the history of Augusta women's golf," Hegg said. "We have a team anchored with three strong seniors, so they will have an opportunity to lead us against the best competition in our sport this year. The schedule is a mix of events and courses we will be familiar with and some that will be new challenges. I'm looking forward to getting started next month at Texas Tech."

Augusta travels to the Red Raider Invitational Sept. 12-13 for Texas Tech's home event at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas. The Jaguars head back to the south and compete in three-straight tournaments in the Carolinas.

For the first time since the 2011-12 season, Augusta competes in the Lady Paladin Invitational Sept. 23-25 in Greenville, S.C., hosted by Furman. Next up is the Greenville Regional Preview Oct. 17-18 hosted by East Carolina in Grenville, N.C., and the Palmetto Intercollegiate Oct. 23-25 wraps up fall play in Kiawah Island, S.C., hosted by the College of Charleston.

The Jags take their talents to south beach and play in the University of Miami's Hurricane Invitational Feb. 27-March 1 at the Biltmore Country Club in Miami, Fla.

The 10th annual 3M Augusta Invitational takes place March 17-19 at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Hosted by the Jaguars, the event features some of the best Division I teams in the nation for a two day, 54-hole format. The Jags won their 2016 home event for the first time in tournament history.

The squad keeps it in Georgia with their second-straight trip to the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate March 27-28 hosted by Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga. Last season in the Jags' debut at the HFI they took second place overall.

The Brickyard Collegiate, hosted by Mercer, April 10-11 in Macon, Ga., concludes the regular season.
