BATON ROUGE, La. – The Augusta University women's golf team finished in 13th place out of 18 teams at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional on Saturday afternoon at The University Club.
The event was hosted by LSU at The University Club on the par-72, 6,285 yard course. The Jaguars ended the three-day event 49-over par and shot plus 13 in the third and final round for their second-straight 301 team score of the tournament.
The top six teams advanced to the NCAA Championship. No. 5 Florida climbed the leaderboard two spots to tie for first with No. 24 South Carolina at seven-under par.
No. 13 Washington notched third (-1), No. 4 Duke fourth (+6), No. 20 Oregon fifth (+18), and No. 37 BYU earned the sixth and final spot to move on.
Augusta junior Eunice Yi recorded her second best round across 54 holes with an even-par 72 in round three to finish four shots above par in a tie for 22nd. Yi had seven birdies in her final round of her junior season.
Josefine Nyqvist shot 77 (+5) and had one birdie in round three to place 35th at eight-over par and junior Jessica Haigwood also shot a 77 (+5) to conclude her tourney in a tie for 77th (+20).
Turning in her low round for the event, freshman Cecilia Diez-Moliner shot a three-over 75 on Saturday to end up in 82nd 24 shots above par. Senior Teresa Caballer Hernani ended in a tie for 87th with a round-three 77 (+5) to finish 26 over
From each of the four regionals, the low six teams and the low three individuals not on those teams (for a total of 24 teams and 12 individuals) advance to the national championships, May 20-25, hosted by the University of Oregon at Eugene Country Club, in Eugene, Oregon.
This year's women's championships will be broadcast for the second year by Golf Channel. More than 100 news and tournament hours are planned again for the men's and women's golf championships on Golf Channel.
