Augusta Moves To 10th After 36 Holes At Clemson Invitational

SUNSET, S.C. – The Augusta University women's golf team shot 17-over par on Saturday afternoon in a windy and wet round two at the Clemson Invitational to move to 10th at the Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C. Round three concludes the tournament on Sunday, April 3.

Clemson is hosting its first women's golf tournament in history with a 14-team field for the 54-hole three day event on the par 72 Jack Nicklaus designed course that is 30 miles north of Clemson.

No. 8 Florida held their lead from round one and sits first in the event two-under par. No. 33 Furman climbed to spots to sit second (+1), Oklahoma is third (+2), and Michigan State and Vanderbilt are tied for fourth to complete the top-five finishing teams after 36 holes of play.

Augusta picked up 16 strokes in round two and carded a 305 as a team to sit in 10th place. Jags junior Teresa Caballer-Hernani is tied for 10th overall to lead Augusta with an even-par 72 in the second round.  

Shaving three strokes from her first round, junior Eunice Yi posted a 73 (+1) and is tied for 29th while junior Josefine Nyqvist shot a 79 (+7) to tie for 48th with one round remaining.

Jessica Haigwood posted an 82 (+10) for a tie for 48th and sophomore Sonya Knebel is even in 64th with an 81 (+9).

The field includes top 25 teams from Florida (8), Tennessee (19) and Texas A&M (22), and top 50 teams from (32) Augusta, Furman, Houston, Michigan State and the host school Clemson.  Rounding out the field is Boston College, Kennesaw State, Oklahoma, UNC-Wilmington, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech.

Round three concludes the event on Sunday, April 3 with the final 18 holes.
