Teresa Caballer Hernani Qualifies For U.S. Women’s Amateur

Women's golf junior earns one of 11 spots to play at 115th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

 

AUGUSTA, Ga. – GRU Augusta junior Teresa Caballer Hernani qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur after finshing the sectional qualifier on July 20 at Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwannee, Ga.

Caballer Hernani shot a one-under 70 to earn one of the 11 spots available at her qualifier. Caballer Hernani matched three other players with a 70 (-1) to finish four strokes off the leader who won with a five-under 66.

The 115th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be held at Portland Golf Club in Portland, Ore., August 10-16, 2015. Entries were open to female amateurs with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 5.4. The U.S. Women's Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.

Caballer Hernani played in 10 events and logged 30 rounds in her debut season as a Jaguar in 2014-15. The rising junior posted a 74.93 stroke average and carded a 71 for her low round of the season on three different occasions.

Caballer Hernani shot par or better four times and her best finish was a tie for fifth at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate on Oct. 14, 2014. Caballer Hernani ended the year with five top-20 finishes and three top 10's.
