AUGUSTA, Ga. – After rain pushed the start back two hours, the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate continued in round two on Saturday with GRU Augusta sitting 10 shots off the lead in fifth in the 13-team field at Forest Hills Golf Club.
Round two was originally scheduled for tee times off holes one and ten at 9:00 a.m., but rain in the area forced the start back to 11:00 a.m. in a shotgun format. No. 43 Coastal Carolina overtook Kennesaw State for the lead and are leading the field at 11-over par over shooting three under today. No. 21 Furman moved to second, Kennesaw dropped to third, and Troy sits fourth ahead of GRU Augusta.
The Jags began round two tied for second at their eighth-annual tournament on the soggy par-71, 6,085-yard course and slid back to fifth – shooting seven over as a team with a 291.
GRU sophomore Teresa Caballer Heranani continued to lead the Jags and remained in the top 10 with her round two 71 (+1). Caballer Hernani birded back-to-back on number eight and nine and carded three birdies overall to tie for eighth. Also shooting the low round for the day and competing as an individual was Sonya Knebel, who shot a one-over 71 as well with two birdies to tie for 26th.
Sophomore Jessica Haigwood was even par for her first nine holes, but posted bogeys on the back nine to finish with a two-over 73 and is tied for 11th.
Josefine Nyqivst and Eunice Yi also carded 73's (+2) in round two in and Nyqvist is tied for 14th place overall and Yi tied for 26th. Improving by two strokes in her second round, Jaguar freshman Maggie Ashmore finished with a 78 (+7) and is tied for 55th.
Individual competitor Lexi Bollant shot a 75 (+4) in round two by shaving 12 strokes from her first round, while Shannon Pak notched an 89 in round two.
Round three is set for a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow, Sunday March 15. The awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the event. Live scoring will continue on GolfStat.com
