GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The GRU Augusta women's golf team slipped four places in round two of the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invitational and sit in seventh place out of 15 teams at the Mark Bostick Golf Course with the third and final round set to be played tomorrow, Sunday March 8.
The No. 35 Jags began on the front nine in round two with No. 11 Arizona and No. 33 Florida. GRU struggled after the first three holes on the par-7-, 6,002-yard course. Leading the entire field after round one, sophomore Eunice Yi shot a 14-over 84 in round two and dropped to a tie for 23rd.
GRU sophomore Jessica Haigwood carded the low round for GRU in round two with a 73 (+3). Haigwood shaved eight strokes off her score from round one with help from a birdie on the back nine to sit tied for 29th overall.
Sophomores Josefine Nyqvist and Teresa Caballer Hernani each shot plus-eight 78's in their second rounds. Hernani sits tied for 23rd with Yi, while Nyqvist is tied for 29th. Freshman Maggie Ashmore is tied for 76th overall with her round–three 86 (+16)
Arizona remained the leader from round one to two at 25-over par, while Florida is 11 strokes back in second at 36 over. Arizona's Krystal Quihuis leads the field at three-over par with her round two even-par 70.
