GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The No. 26 GRU Augusta women's golf team improved one place after their second round of play at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort & Rio Mar Country Club - River Course in Grande, Puerto Rico, and are 11th out of 15 with a round-two 303 (+37).
The Jaguars shaved seven strokes from their team score and are 37-over par after their round two 303. Three of the five Jags in the starting lineup posted better scores in round two from their opening rounds, but GRU is still 28 strokes off the lead. Teresa Caballer Hernani dropped three strokes from the overall score and carded a round-two 72 (+1). She is leading GRU and is tied for 20th at 5-over par.
Sitting 26 spots back in a tie for 46th is Eunice Yi. Yi shot an even-par 72 in round two, dropping 11 strokes from her opening 82 on Monday. Yi is plus-11 and sitting second for GRU, while Sonya Knebel matched her first round score or 78 and is in a tie for 53rd at 12-over par. Teammate Jessica Haigwood is even with Knebel in 53rd place, after she added 10 strokes to her score from round one and shot an 11-over 83 in round two.
Josefine Nyqivst is tied for 77th overall at 20-over par, but she did drop four strokes from round one and shot an 8-over 80. The Jags only had eight birdies on the scorecard collectively and posted 24 bogeys or worse on the day.
Arkansas is still the tourney leader at 9-over par, while Iowa State is second (+11), LSU third (+12), Kent State fourth (+15), and TCU fifth (+19).
