AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Jaguars host their first tournament as GRU Augusta and their first in six years with a new sponsor at the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate at Forest Hills Gold Club from March 14-16.
The three-day, 54-hole event begins on Thursday, March 13 with a 12:00 p.m. practice round with a shotgun start. The 14-team field includes five ranked teams in the Golfstat top 50: No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 33 GRU Augusta, No. 41 Kansas, No. 45 Illinois, and No. 47 East Tennessee State.
The seventh edition of the event is the first time 3M has been the title sponsor, after Insperity backed the tourney for the past six years.
The Jaguars, who took a second-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 18 and a fifth-place spot at the UCF Challenge on Feb. 11, will feature a lineup that includes seniors Casey Kennedy and Christine Duschek-Hansen and freshmen Jessica Haigwood, Eunice Yi, and Josefine Nyqvist. Junior Shannon Pak will be competing as an individual.
The Jags finished in the top five in all four of their events in the fall – highlighted by a third-place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C., hosted by Furman University on Sept. 21.
Last year in the Jags' home event, Purdue edged out Vanderbilt for the team title – shooting 76-69-70, to finish with a 1-under 215. Notre Dame's Ashley Armstrong brought home the individual title with 9- under 207 (75-68-74) – beating Purdue's Paula Reto.
