Jaguars Stay Steady Throughout To Card 6th

AUGUSTA, Ga. - After a 36-hole Saturday finish to the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate, the GRU Augusta Jaguars maintained their initial position of a sixth-place finish as they held of Illinois and Purdue down the stretch.

Eunie Yi paced the Jags in round two, firing a 3-under 69 in the second round to tie for the low score of the round. After sandwiching birdies on holes one and three around a bogey at 2, Yi holed her second shot on the par-4 fifth to secure an eagle and rise up the leaderboard. Back-to-back bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes evened her front nine, but she played a steady back nine with eight pars and one birdie to sit tied for third.

But tougher pin placements caused many top golfers to struggle in round three, and Yi struggled to fire a closing-round 80, finishing in a tie for 15th. Josefine Nyqvist took advantage of the final round and Saturday overall, firing rounds of 74-75 to end her tournament at 14-over par, good for a T-19 finish, and Casey Kennedy finished just another shot back to secure a tie for 22nd.
