Millette Green enters her fifth season in 2021-22 as the head women’s basketball coach at Augusta University.

Augusta University Director of Athletics Clint Bryant introduced Green as the new leader of the Jaguar women’s basketball program at a press conference in Christenberry Fieldhouse on July 5, 2017. Green becomes the ninth head coach in the 43-year history of the program. In the 2018-19 season, the Jaguars nearly doubled their win total from Green’s first season.

“Augusta University is very fortunate to have a coach join us with the caliber of Millette Green,” Bryant said. “She comes to us with a wealth of experience and noted success in recruiting many parts of the country. She will be a great addition to our university, athletic department, and community as the head coach of our women’s basketball program. She will also serve as a tremendous role model for our students and young people throughout our area to emulate. We are extremely excited about her joining Jaguar Nation.”

Green joined the Jaguars after spending five seasons as the top assistant at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. With Green courtside, the William and Mary Tribe recorded one of its best seasons in school history in 2016-17. W&M tied a school record with 20 wins, won a CAA Tournament game for the first time since 2009, and advanced to the CAA Semifinals for the first-time since 2001. The Tribe won 11-straight games, which is the longest single-season streak in school history, from Nov. 18, 2016 - Jan. 2, 2017. 

Once again Green helped W&M to a record setting season in the 2015-16 campaign. The Tribe raced out to its best start in school history with an 11-2 record, and went onto again win the fourth most wins in school history with 15. For the second straight season her guards set a school record by tying the single season assist record (466). During the season junior guard Marlena Tremba became the 15th player in school history to break the 1000-point barrier. Individually, four players earned All-CAA awards.

Green helped the Tribe to a record setting season in her second season in Williamsburg. The Tribe racked up 15 wins, the fourth-most in school history, on its way to its first-ever postseason appearances with bid in the Women’s Basketball Invitational. The Green and Gold had a seven-win turnaround, while setting three school records for assists (466), blocked shots, (143), blocked shots per game (4.5). Individually she helped lead four players to five All-CAA awards.

In her first season with the Tribe, Green helped tutor freshman guard Marlena Tremba to CAA Rookie of the Year honors, and a spot on the all-rookie team. She also helped guide the Tribe defense to a top 10 finish in the NCAA in steals per game. A key member of the recruiting team, she helped the Tribe ink four players for the 2014-15 season.

Before coming to William and Mary, Green spent the last three seasons at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where in 2012 she was the associate head coach for the Knights. During her three-year tenure under head coach Peter Cinella, Green was the Fairleigh Dickinson recruiting coordinator as she spearheaded efforts, which landed Erika Livermore, who was a First Team All-Northeast Conference selection last season. 

Prior to her stint with the Knights, Green was an assistant coach at Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) for two seasons. While with the Jaguars, Green served as the film exchange coordinator during her initial season before becoming scouting and team travel coordinator in her final year.  Green broke into the coaching ranks in 2007 as an assistant at Robert Morris University. During her time with the Colonials, Green assisted with recruiting, player development, scouting, film breakdown and analysis and game preparation and strategy. Before beginning her coaching career, Green spent the spring of 2007 as a community relations intern for the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association.

Green is a 2003 graduate of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC), where she was a member of the women’s basketball team. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and an MBA Preparatory Certificate at UMBC. Green began her collegiate career at East Carolina University before transferring to UMBC.  She completed her Master’s of Business Administration and Master’s of Science in Sports Management at Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla.  

Augusta University assistant women’s basketball coach Celeste Stewart begins her third season with the Jaguars 2021-22. Stewart joins the Jaguars from East Carolina University, where she was an assistant coach for the 2018-19 season.

"I am excited about Celeste's decision to join our program," head coach Millette Green said. "I believe her knowledge and experience will make an immediate impact in our program. From the time she accepted the position, she has been eager to start and help prepare for the season."

Stewart joined the ECU Pirates last season, after working at Wingate University from 2014-2018. Stewart served as an assistant coach during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons at Wingate, helping the Bulldogs reach a pair of NCAA Regional Semifinals and win the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship. She handled on-the-floor coaching and skill development of individual players and prepared scouting reports. She played an integral role in Wingate's recruiting efforts, helping to organize visits as well as evaluating and recruiting student-athletes.

"I would like to thank Coach Green and Coach Bryant for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Augusta women's basketball program," Stewart said. "I believe in Coach Green's values as a coach and I am excited about the future of the program. I look forward to coaching our student-athletes and being a part of Jag Nation. I appreciate all the support I have received from family, friends, and mentors during this process."

Prior to her elevation as an assistant coach at WU, Stewart was a graduate assistant for Wingate from 2014 to 2016. She helped the Bulldogs win the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Tournament and make two NCAA Tournament appearances. She assisted with recruiting as well as preparing scouting reports, scouting film of opposing teams and creating highlight films for every game.

Stewart is a 2013 ECU graduate and played for head coach Heather Macy during her time in Greenville. She was a Conference USA first team All-Conference player in 2013 and was ECU's Most Valuable Player for both the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons. She is seventh all-time at ECU with 366 career assists.

Stewart earned her bachelor's degree in recreational therapy from ECU in 2013. She completed her master's degree in sport management from Wingate in 2016.
