Augusta Earns Top 10 Ranking for Peach Belt

Augusta, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars Women's Basketball team was selected ninth in the PBC's Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Jags garnered 42 points in the voting, beating out Georgia College, Georgia Southwestern, and Young Harris.

Last year's Peach Belt and Southeast Regional Champion, North Georgia, was picked number one in the poll with 120 points and 10 first place votes. The Nighthawks also enters the season with a #23 national ranking. Lander comes in at number two, receiving 112 points in the poll. The bearcats are off to an interesting start this year, having defeated Clemson 74-72 in an exhibition match before the start of the year. They also have earned national recognition, coming it a #21 in the nation. Rounding out the top three teams for the conference is Clayton State with 91 points. Last Year the Lakers made the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in the last 15 years, with one of those (2010-11) culminating into a National Championship.
