Augusta Women’s Basketball Signs Seven To Play In 2019-20 Season

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head women's basketball coach Millette Green announced the 2019-20 signing class on Tuesday afternoon. The Jaguars gained seven signees with freshmen Ashleigh Boulin, Crystal Corley, Stella Logbognon, Kennedi Manning, Madison Tyler, and junior-transfers Jalea Gray and Zairya West.

 

Name: Ashleigh Boulin

Position: Forward

Year: Freshman

Height: 5-10

Hometown / Previous School: Lawrenceville, Ga. / Duluth High School

 

"Ashleigh is a versatile player who can score inside and out," Green said. "I really like her ability to rebound the basketball and play through contact."

 

Boulin comes to Augusta from Duluth High School in Duluth, Ga., where she played for two seasons. She grew up in nearby Lawrenceville, Ga., and earned the Duluth Offensive Player of the Year award. Boulin was a second team All-Region selection for DHS and helped her team reach the Sweet 16 of the state playoffs. Born in Queens, N.Y., she was selected to the Region 7A Gwinnett County Tip-Off Club All-Academic Team.

 

Name: Crystal Corley

Position: Guard

Year: Freshman

Height: 5-9

Hometown / Previous School: Milledgeville, Ga. / Baldwin County High School

 

"Crystal is a versatile player that can create her own shot and anticipate on defense," Green said. "I like her ability to rebound from the perimeter positions."

 

Corley attended Baldwin County High School in Milledgeville, Ga., for two years. She was named the Region 4A Player of the Year and Player of the County during her two year stay, while being selected to the GACA All-Star Game. She guided BCHS to a 2018-19 regular season championship and a Region 4A Championship, while being named the MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Born in Augusta, Ga., Corley plans to study computer science at Augusta University.

 

Name: Jalea Gray

Position: Forward

Year: Junior

Height: 5-11

Hometown / Previous School: Lawrenceville, Ga. / Savannah State University

 

"Jalea will bring some experience to our roster," Green said. "She has the ability to score inside and out and is very capable of double-double performances."

 

Gray spent the last two seasons at Savannah State University and will join the Jaguars as a junior transfer. Last season in 2018-19, Gray gave the Tigers 6.0 ppg and 4.4 rpg. She started in 18 games and competed in a total of 23 for SSU last season. Gray grew up in Lawrenceville, Ga., and averaged 18.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg for Peachtree Ridge High School. She plans to study marketing at AU.

 

Name: Stella Logbognon

Position: Forward / Center

Year: Junior

Height: 6-4

Hometown / Previous School: Abidjan, Ivory Coast / Tallahassee Community College

 

"Stella was a national champion at Tallahassee Community College," Green said. "Her role there was to defend and rebound, but she had some double-digit scoring performances and I expect her to be aggressive on both ends of the floor for us."

 

Logbognon comes to Augusta after spending a season at Tallahassee Community College. A native of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Logbognon stands at 6-4 and will assist the Jaguars in the paint. Prior to TCC, she played for South Plains College in Levelland, Texas.

 

Name: Kennedi Manning

Position: Forward

Year: Freshman

Height: 6-0

Hometown / Previous School: Stone Mountain, Ga. / Arabia Mountain High School

 

"Kennedi has great length in which she utilized at the high school level to change shots and rebound," Green said. "She has the ability to score inside and out and I look forward to seeing her offensive game expand."

 

Manning makes her way to Augusta from Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia, Ga. During her time at AMHS, Manning was named the Most Valuable Player for 5A and was also the MVP of the 5A All-Star Game. She also broke the 1,000 career-point mark during her time and was awarded the Best Overall Player of the Year in 2018-19. A scholar-athlete her senior season, Manning plans on studying kinesiology at Augusta University.

 

Name: Madison Tyler

Position: Guard

Year: Freshman

Height: 5-7

Hometown / Previous School: Columbia, S.C. / Legacy Charter

 

"Madison is an outside threat and I love her tenacity on defense," Green said.  

 

Tyler attended the Legacy Charter School in Greenville, S.C. for two years and graduated in 2019. She lettered in basketball under coach Latrese Davis during her tenure and was named the Defensive Player of the Year, the MVP of the Carolina Classic, and was the Team Captain.

 

Name: Zairya West

Position: Guard

Year: Junior

Height: 5-4

Hometown / Previous School: Raleigh, N.C. / Norfolk State University

 

"I remember watching Zairya in her prep days," Green said. "She has some championship experience that she can bring to our program. Offensively, I like her ability to create for herself and others. On the defensive end, she has the ability to disrupt an offense."

 

West went to Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va., for two seasons and will join Augusta as a junior transfer. The guard appeared in 21 games as a freshman and sophomore and was a NSU Athletics Director's Honor Roll selection as a sophomore. From Raleigh, N.C., West went to Millbrook High School and was voted the Defensie Player of the Year as a senior. She plans to study sociology at AU.
