Augusta Ends Season With Road Loss At Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Augusta University women's basketball team played its final game of the 2018-19 season on Saturday afternoon and fell 105-63 to the Lander Bearcats in Peach Belt Conference action.

Augusta senior Kaela Patrick paced the team with 17 points off the bench. Patrick added four rebounds and a block and steal, while sophomore Sydney Grayden scored 12 points and added seven rebounds and two blocks in her first start of the season. Junior Cameryn Wilson and freshman Jaelyn Autman each scored nine for the Jaguars, with Wilson grabbing six boards and Autman four.

 

Ranked second in the PBC standings and No. 5 in the NCAA Southeast Region, Lander came out firing and outscored AU 34-6 in the opening period. The Bearcats blew it open and held a 55-35 score at halftime. Lander won big thanks to hitting nine three pointers to Augusta's four. AU battled the Bearcats in the paint and only trailed 42-39 in the rebound contest, but Lander carded 56 points in the paint to Augusta's 20.

 

The game marked the final competition for AU seniors Brianna Middleton, Mallory Myers, an Kaela Patrick.
