Jags Cap Regular Season Home Games With 63-61 Win Over GSW

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team hosted its final regular-season game of the season on Saturday afternoon with a Peach Belt Conference contest against Georgia Southwestern. The Jaguars took down the Canes 63-61 in a conference thriller.

The Jaguars celebrated 2019 Homecoming and Senior Day during the game, as the team honored seniors Brianna Middleton, Mallory Myers, and Kaela Patrick.

 

Middleton needed five rebounds to reach 10th all time for the Jaguars and she grabbed nine total boards to accomplish the task. Middleton added nine points, while freshman Kiera Howard paced the Jags with 16 points and nine points. Senior Kaela Patrick and freshman Asia Harrison each scored 12 points for Augusta.

 

Augusta recovered from a first-period deficit of 31-24 and outscored the Canes 21-11 in the second period to lead 21-24 at halftime. The Jaguars were up by six heading into the final period and played a battle down to the final seconds. Augusta maintained the lead, but GSW trailed 61-59 with 16 seconds to play. Harrison got to the free-throw line and hit both. The Canes canned the next shot for another two point game, but the clock expired as AU won 63-61.
