Howard Goes For Career-Best 25 Points In Loss To Francis Marion

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team hosted a Peach Belt Conference game against the Francis Marion Patriots on Wednesday night and lost 91-70 in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Freshman Kiera Howard hit 10 field goals and totaled a game-high 25 points – the most of her young Augusta career. Jaguar junior Cameryn Wilson contributed 15 points, six rebounds, and a pair of steals, while freshman Jaelyn Autman gave AU seven points and five boards. Named to the PBC All-Academic team earlier today, senior Mallory Myers added six points and a rebound and assist.

 

AU struggled from the three-point line and went 3-for-14 (21.4 percent), but outscored the Patriots 21-9 off turnovers. FMU flew ahead 27-15 after the opening 10 minutes and outscored Augusta 21-20 in the second period to lead 48-35 at halftime. The Jaguars put up 20 points to FMU's 18 in the third and trailed by nine towards the beginning of the fourth. The Patriots proved too much in the fourth to win big on the road.

 

The Jaguars host the 2019 Homecoming and Senior Day games in Christenberry Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Georgia Southwestern. The women's game tips off at 1:30 p.m. and the men follow at 3:30 p.m. for the final regular-season doubleheader of the season.
