Columbus State Survives Augusta, 58-56

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team fell 58-56 to the Columbus State Cougars in a Peach Belt Conference battle on Saturday Afternoon at the Lumpkin Center.

Augusta freshman Asia Harrison led the team with 15 points, senior Brianna Middleton added 11 points and five rebounds, and junior Cameryn Wilson scored 10 points in the close defeat.

 

The Jaguars outshot the cougars from field goal range, but were outrebounded 51-34. AU led by two points at halftime and held the advantage through the first few second-half possessions. CSU took over in the third and fourth quarter to hold off the Jags in the final 30 seconds.

 

Augusta hosts UNC Pembroke on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse. AU stays home to play North Georgia (Jan. 19), Young Harris (Jan. 21), and USC Aiken (Jan. 30).
