Augusta Falls At Fayetteville State In Last Non-Conference Game Of The Season

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Augusta University women's basketball team played a midweek non-conference game at Fayetteville State on Wednesday afternoon and lost 53-36 in the Felton J. Capel Arena.

The game was the sixth and final out of conference game for the Jaguars this season. Augusta freshman Kailyn Jackson scored a team-high nine points with three rebounds, while senior Brianna Middleton and freshman Jaelyn Autman each turned in seven points. Junior Cameryn Wilson and senior Kaela Patrick scored five apiece for Augusta in the road loss.

 

The Jaguars trailed 14-10 after the first period, with Wilson and Patrick each draining an early three pointer for AU. Jackson hit a layup with 5:40 on the clock for the Jags' only bucket of the second period, as FSU used an 11-2 run to lead 25-12 at halftime. After scoring a combined 16 points in the first three periods of play, the Jaguars outscored the Broncos 20-14 in the fourth to fall 53-36.

 

The Broncos took advantage in the paint with a 28-14 point differential and outrebounded the Jaguars 37-34.

 

The Jaguars return home in 2019 to host Clayton State on Saturday, Jan 5 at 1:30 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
