AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team started Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday afternoon and lost a 66-56 contest to the Georgia College Bobcats in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

AU freshman Asia Harrison hit four first-half three pointers and finished the day with five treys and 22 total points to lead the team. Freshman Kiera Howard and Brianna Middleton also scored in double figures for the Jaguars with each adding 12 points. Middleton added nine rebounds and three steals and Howard a pair of assists and a block and steal.
The first period was tied for the first few minutes and Georgia College ended with an 11-9 advantage. It was all GC in the second as the Bobcats outscored Augusta 21-15 to take a 32-24 lead at halftime. GC had 10 more rebounds than AU at the half and 16 more points in the paint.
GC hit an uncontested jumper with five minutes to go in the game that lifted the Bobcats up 58-46, forcing Augusta head coach Millette Green to call a timeout. The Jaguars cut the game to a 10-point deficit with 3:00 on the clock and trailed by six after a Cameryn Wilson fast- break layup. The clock ran out for Augusta and GC ran away with the game at the free-throw line.
The rebound battle went to GC 42-30, but AU outscored the Bobcats 20-10 off turnovers in the loss. Augusta plays at Queens inside in the Levine Center on Wednesday, Dec. 5 for a 6:00 p.m. single game in Charlotte, N.C.
