Women’s Hoops Gets First On-Court Action In Exhibition Loss At Presbyterian College

CLINTON, S.C. – The Augusta University women's basketball team played an exhibition game against Division-I opponent Presbyterian College on Sunday afternoon in Clinton, S.C. and fell 65-47. It was Augusta's final competition before officially tipping the season Nov. 9-10 by playing host to the Peach Belt/Conference Carolinas Challenge in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

 

Second year Augusta head coach Millette Green got a team-high 15 points from freshman Olivia Swanston off the bench. The rookie from Marietta, Ga. was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and hit four three pointers and four field goals, while grabbing a pair of rebounds, a steal, and an assist.

 

Augusta sophomore Sydney Grayden and freshman Asia Harrison each put up eight points, with Grayden adding five boards and Harrison four assists, three rebounds, and a steal. Senior Brianna Middleton's seven rebounds led the team and she added five points.

 

The Jaguars matched 16 points to the Blue Hose in first quarter and 12 points in the second quarter to go into halftime even. The third quarter was the difference maker as PC outscored the Jags 21-7, before adding four more points than AU in the fourth.

 

Augusta shot 77.8 percent (7-for-9) from the free-throw line, 30.0 percent from the arc (6-for-20), and 27.9 percent (17-for-61) from field-goal territory.

 

The Jaguars host their season opener against Barton College on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the 'Berry for day of the PBC/CC Challenge.
