AU Women’s Basketball Voted 11th In PBC Preseason Coaches Poll

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's basketball team is ranked 11th in the Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, that was released on Wednesday after a vote from the league's head coaches.

 

North Georgia was chosen as the unanimous favorite to repeat as Peach Belt Conference champions. The Nighthawks received all 11 first-place votes available to them for a maximum point score of 121. Columbus State was second in the voting with Lander third and a tie for fourth between Flagler and Francis Marion. Georgia College was sixth with Clayton State seventh and UNC Pembroke eighth. USC Aiken, Georgia Southwestern, Augusta and Young Harris rounded out the voting.

 

Augusta head women's basketball coach Millette Green announced the 2018-19 women's basketball schedule that includes 31 games and 15 home events in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The season kicks off on Nov. 4 with an exhibition game at a Division-I opponent, Presbyterian College, in Clinton, S.C.

 

The PBC Coaches Preseason Poll is listed below. Coaches were not permitted to rank their own teams. The regular-season begins on Friday, Nov. 9, with conference play starting on Saturday, Dec. 1. The 2018-19 PBC Tournament will be held March 6, 9-10 with the final four playing at the site of the highest remaining men's seed.

 

The Jaguars officially tip the new season at Christenberry when they host the Peach Belt / Conference Carolinas Conference Challenge Nov. 9-10 with Barton College, Southern Wesleyan, and UNC Pembroke. The Jags play Barton on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and face Southern Wesleyan Nov. 10 at 4:00 p.m. INFO HERE
