MELBOURNE, Australia – Augusta University women's basketball alum Breonna O'Conner signed a professional basketball contract with Coburg Giants Basketball Association on Jan. 22 and will continue her career in Melbourne, Australia.

"This has truly been a goal of mine since I was a little girl, so I'm basically just living my dream," O'Conner said. "I have been training mentally for the change and going overseas. I'm going to miss all my family and friends, but that's why I played out of state during my college career to prepare. I'm just excited about getting back on that court."

"I'm excited to have Breonna join what is already shaping up to be a young, athletic, and exciting group of players that have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming season," said Coburg head coach David Elhage. "We are excited to have Breonna on board and we are looking forward to having her touch down on Australian soil very soon."

O'Conner's No. 32 jersey was also retired at Ville Platte High School in Ville Platte, La., on Saturday, Jan. 27. She becomes the first VPHS women's basketball player to have her jersey retired and the first to play professional basketball.

A junior-transfer to the Jaguars in 2015 from Indian River State College, O'Conner played two seasons in Augusta and was named Peach Belt All-Conference twice. As a senior in 2016-17, she ranked second in the league with 180 made field goals and 73 steals. Her 16.8 points per game were the fourth most in the Peach Belt and she led AU in scoring, free throws, and steals. She ended the season with 4.2 rebounds per game, 2.0 assists per game, and 2.9 steals per game. After helping the Jags reach the NCAA Southeast Region Championship in 2016, O'Conner was named to the NCAA Southeast Region All-Tournament team.
