AIKEN, S.C. – The Augusta University women's basketball team traveled to rival USC Aiken on Wednesday night for a Peach Belt Conference contest in the Convocation Center and the Jaguars fell 72-52 in their 16th game of the season.

In the first of two meetings between the two schools closely separated by the Savannah River, Augusta (3-13, 1-11 PBC) couldn't slow down USC Aiken (5-13, 2-10 PBC) in the second half as the Pacers got their second win at home on the season.

AU senior Joshlyn Belcher came off the bench and hit five three pointers – one shy of her single-game high. She finished with 19 points, four rebounds, and a pair of assists, while senior Jahmia Bradley booked 12 points and five boards. Junior Brianna Middleton grabbed double-digit rebounds for the sixth time this season with 10 and added seven points.

Augusta shot 32.2 percent from field-goal range (19-for-59) and didn't shoot above 34 percent from the three-point line or free-throw line. Each team made nine three pointers, while USCA recorded a 44.6 field-goal percentage (25-for-56) and shot 68.4 percent (13-for-19) from the free-throw line. The Pacers outrebounded AU 43-37 and outscored the Jags by 10 in the paint.

Bradley sunk a three pointer to start the Augusta offense and open the game. After a back-and-forth start to the first half, Augusta led 14-10 at the end of the first period. Bradley and Belcher each hit two three pointers in the first half, but the Pacers closed the first 20 minutes on a 5-0 run and led 34-23 at halftime.

USC Aiken outscored Augusta 38-29 in the second half and took a 72-52 victory. Augusta will look to avenge the loss on Wednesday, Jan. 21 when the Jags host USCA for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Next up, Augusta heads to Greenwood, S.C., on Saturday, Jan. 27 to take on Lander University at 1:30 p.m. in a Peach Belt Conference game.
