Lander Comes Alive Late To Beat Jags On The Road

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Augusta University women's basketball team played the Lander Bearcats on the road in a Peach Belt Conference contest on Saturday afternoon and lost 98-48 despite leading at halftime.

 

The PBC game pushed Augusta to 3-14 overall and 1-12 in the PBC, while Lander moved to 14-5 on the season and 9-4 the league.

  • 45.5 free-throw percentage (15-for-33)

 

Senior Ashleigh Outler paced the Jaguars with 19 points, senior Jahmia Bradley grabbed 11 rebounds and had three points, while junior Mallory Myers scored nine with two assists and two rebounds.

 

AU committed 32 turnovers to Lander's 11 and were outrebounded 48-36 in the road loss.

 

Lander led early in the first period by seven points, but Augusta outscored the Bearcats 21-13 in the second. Outler hit a three pointer with 28 seconds left before halftime to give AU a 31-30 lead at the break. Lander scored 30 points in the third period and held off the Jaguars for a 98-48 win to improve to 8-1 at home.

 

AU hosts Flagler College on Wednesday, Jan. 31 for a 5:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference game in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
