Green Gains Three Freshmen In NLI Early Signing Period

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head women's basketball coach Millette Green announced the signing of three freshmen for the 2018-19 season. The Jaguars gained Jayla Early, Kailyn Jackson, and Olivia Swanston in the National Letter of Intent (NLI) early signing period (Nov. 8-15).

 

"We are very excited about the core of our first recruiting class," Green said. "Kailyn, Olivia and Jayla all bring a great deal of passion, energy, and effort to our program. In the recruiting process, I shared my vision and expectations for the team and I was thrilled they all agreed to help us take the program to new heights."

Name: Jayla Early

Class: Freshman

Position: Guard

Height: 5-8

Hometown / Previous School: Powder Springs, Ga. / Hillgrove High School

 

"Jayla has very deceiving speed and anticipation at the point guard position. She has the ability to create her own shot, as well as create scoring opportunities for her teammates."

 

Early competed for Saint Francis High School and lettered in all four years of basketball. She helped her team to a Sweet 16 appearance during her tenure, while also playing for Peak Performance Basketball out of Atlanta, Ga., where she averaged 12 points per game, six assists, and four rebounds and steals.

 

Name: Kailyn Jackson

Class: Freshman

Position: Forward

Height: 5-10

Hometown / Previous School: Decatur, Ga. / Westlake High School

 

"Kailyn can score inside and continues to develop her perimeter game. She is a very energetic rebounder and vocal defender."

 

Jackson joins the Jags from Westlake High School in Decatur, Ga., where she lettered in basketball and was named the Most Valuable Player and the Defensive Player of the Year during her time. She also competed with FBC Basketball out of Atlanta, Ga., and averaged 10 points per game last season.  

 

Name: Olivia Swanston

Class: Freshman

Position: Guard

Height: 5-8

Hometown / Previous School: Marietta, Ga. / Saint Francis High School

 

"Olivia is an outside threat with a quick release. She competes at both ends of the court with the same level of energy and effort."

 

Swanston attended Saint Francis High School in Marietta, Ga., and won a region championship all four years. Swanston helped her team win the state championship twice, while her team reached the DICK'S High School Nationals one year.
